Study in English

BSUIR was the 1st engineering university in the Republic of Belarus to open English-medium study programmes. In 2009, the first group of students was enrolled in the programme Telecommunication Networks. 2010 saw the first intake to an English-medium Master's degree programme Methods and Systems of Information Protection, Information Security.

Today, every 3rd foreign student at BSUIR studies in English. In compliance with the national system of higher education BSUIR offers four full-time and two distance first degree programmes and four full-time Master's degree programmes with English as the course language.

In addition, BSUIR offers blended programmes that combine full-time and e-learning in the English language that have been developed in cooperation with the Computer Systems Institute (CSI), the USA. Training is provided for the US residents on the basis of two BSUIR branches opened on the CSI campuses in Boston and Chicago.

The Programme is focused on technologies of transport networks, access networks, channel and package digital commutation, as well as various network services, related to information transfer, storage, processing and distribution of information in communication networks. More

In the course of integration of media and communication means, Integrated Services Digital Networks (ISDN), Intelligent Networks (IN), Family Support Networks (FSN) were developed. Modern infocommunication systems are based on packet switching nodes, enabling information distribution in transport nets, as well as access of stationary and mobile subscribers to various types of services, related to data and media (voice, sound, image, video) transfer.

Various procedures for coding, filtration, compression and encryption of text, voice, sound and image are used to support multimedia technologies in modern devices and information distribution systems.

Effective utilisation of newly developed software and hardware depends greatly on the fact, whether 'human factor' was taken into account in their design and operation. Data organisation and data input-output hardware usually do not take into account psychological human features of data receipt, processing, storage and realisation.
