Faculty of Continuous and Distance Education
Dean: Dr. Vasily Bondarik
Before 2009 the Faculty provided training in three different modes of study and was named the Faculty of Extramural, Evening and Distance Training. Whereas evening training had been closed, and a new mode - distance training - had been established, in 2009 the Faculty was split into two new ones: the Faculty of Extramural Training, and the Faculty of Continuous and Distance Education.
The Faculty offers 7 specialities in the distance training mode:
- Software for Information Technologies
- Information Systems and Technologies in Economics
- Information Technologies and Control in Technical Systems
- Informatics
- Automated Data Processing Systems
- Artificial Intelligence
- Marketing
We are devoted to the main principle of the distance training which reads: "It is knowledge that shall be delivered to the person, not person that shall be seeking knowledge". Our distance training system allows us to create a free choice of educational disciplines for a student, and helps provide a dialogue between the student and the tutor, using traditional and state-of-the-art information & telecommunication technologies. As there are no fixed periods of education, this training mode allows everyone to choose an individual rate of study.
Our tasks are as follows:
1) organization of distance training activities;
2) publication of study guides in an electronic format;
3) development and operation of Internet software for our distance training options;
4) organization of conferences, exhibitions and presentations on distance training;
5) provision of information, analytical, research and marketing maintenance for BSUIR distance training options.
The Faculty is also running a regular International scientific and methodical conference "Distance Education - An Educational Environment of the XXI Century". The Conference is a recognized forum on distance education in the Commonwealth of the Independent States.
