Research activities are financed from the republican budgetary sources in the framework of national programs of different level, from proper funds of industrial companies, international research centers and foundations, and through the contracts with foreign companies. The University participates in international and national scientific and technology programs, CIS programs, such as "Cosmos-NT", "Triada", "Functional microwave electronics-2", and "SKIF"; as well as in the national programs of fundamental, oriented fundamental and applied research. For the national comprehensive programs "Electronics", "Nano-materials and nano-technologies", and the national applied research program "Materials in engineering" BSUIR is one the principal contractors and the scientific supervisor. By the resolution of the Belarus Council of Ministers BSUIR was appointed the chief institution in the country to study the problems of protection against unintended interference and ensuring electromagnetic compatibility of radio devices and systems.
BSUIR is developing and fabricating devices and instruments in millimeter waves, devises solutions for electromagnetic compatibility of radio devices and systems, radar engineering, and hydro acoustics, creating new materials and technological processes in micro- and nano-electronics in the framework of contracts with partner organizations from China, Germany, United States, India, Italy, Poland, South and North Corea, Lybia, Slovakia, Venezuela, Russia, and Ukraine.
